hi, I’m michelle

I am a mom of two, an analog photographer, and birth doula. I started taking photos on an old minolta film camera over a decade ago before deciding I was terrible at it (classic). While working as a birth doula, things organically shifted and I started taking birth photographs for the families I was supporting. After a while, I felt that something was missing, and so I took up film photography again. I now find film to be my favourite way to capture all of the beauty that I see around me.

I have a documentary style and love bright colours, but I also have a HUGE love of black and white.

In my spare time, I’m usually traipsing around Vancouver with my kids, reading, or thinking about what I’m going to make for dinner. I am most happy when I have a creative project going on - sometimes it’s writing music, sometimes it’s taking photos and sometimes it’s deciding that I am going to paint stripes on the wall in my living room.

I am always open to connecting virtually to see if we would be a good fit to work together. I would love to hear from you and about the things that inspire you!
